Strategic Plan for Youth and Families

Over the course of the pandemic, we lost relationships with our families and young people. The strategic plan for the next three years is very similar to the one that was created in 2019 but knowing that the pandemic has affected young people in ways that are still being understood. Our goal is to take a slow, but intentional approach to how we minister to young people. We used the data from 2019 and the plan from 2019-2023 to create this strategic plan. We want all young people to celebrate who they are and be loved by this community.

Most Blessed Sacrament Parish has a long-standing tradition to ensure the youth of the parish have a voice in all areas of the parish. Currently, we have young people voicing their perspectives on the Finance Committee, Parish Pastoral Council, the Catholic Women’s League, the Liturgical Committee, and many other areas of parish life. We value the thoughts, opinions, and life experiences young people have to offer our community.

With the close relationship we have developed with Blessed Sacrament Catholic Elementary School and St. Jean de Bréfeuf Catholic Secondary School, we have ensured our young people have the opportunity to grow in their faith journey.

The 2018 Synod on Young People and Religious Vocation, gave the opportunity for young people to converse with Pope Francis and bishops from around the world. They shared their insight of the Church, but also what they need and desire from the Church. To read the documents that were written for the Synod, please see the following links, to read what Pope Francis has written about young people and the journey we must take with young people.

Preparatory Document

Our Strategic Plan was developed with the understanding that we must accompany young people and their families. Pope Francis’ opening words of the Post-Synodal  Apostolic Exhortation is “Christi Vivit”, meaning “Christ is Alive, and he wants you to be Alive”. As a parish community, we want our young people to feel welcomed and alive. The strategic plan will look at how we can reconnect, build and empower young people and their families over the next three years. Our parish is committed to making young people to feel alive, embraced and loved.
